Is central heating service is essential

]]>

A central heating system will create a warm temperature to the whole interior of a building from a point to multiple rooms. This system may combine with the other system in order to control the building climate that will convert the whole system into a HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning system). If you have heating system you should have a central heating service carried out regularly. It is made compulsory by law that the central heating system should be regularly serviced if the property is let out for rental purposes. It is for your benefit that this procedure is insisting to carry out annually which involves many reasons.

Safety is the main reason why it is needed regularly as a faulty boiler can result in carbon monoxide leaking out into the home environment. Carbon monoxide can lead to extreme illness and even death for humans and animals living in the house and if you try to save money by avoiding the central heating service is not advisable. As carbon monoxide gas has no odour and shape, it is invisible to all of the senses and we cannot see, taste or smell it and only after suffering from any kind of illness you will be aware of its leaking. So you have to think whether you have to risk you and your family’s health and well being by skipping the service of your central heating system.

It is obvious that when you service your boiler regularly then it will increase its efficiency which will in turn save money in the long run. It will also cut your energy bills which also helpful to the environment too and increase your green credentials. While hiring any company for your central heating service and you have to ask before hand exactly what will be done during the procedure. There are chances that there may be some untrained trade men may simply carry out a safety check without a proper inspection and cleaning. So make sure that you are hiring only professionalized and trained one who will stripped down your boiler and the major components will be cleaned and tested which will take at least an hour to complete.

You should service your boiler regularly yearly once and the services should be especially important if you have a condensing boiler. The reason is that these feature condensate traps which must be cleaned out once a year. Try to choose a plumbing firm which have licensed and insured so that if there is any problem after the trade men has left, you will be covered for this.

Why must I Power Flush my Central Heating System?

Each calendar year sediment develops inside your boiler and Heating System. This will cause a tremendous result in diminishing productivity and may need to be Power Flushed as these sediments coats the pipes and decreases circulating productivity. The accumulation of contamination’s can be neutralized by a commercial cleaning procedure recognized as a Power Flushing. Any Central Heating System can build up this sludge trouble over a period of time, although there will be much more in an older Heating System. If you buy a new central heating radiator or a boiler you must give earnest regard to Power Flushing the Central Heating System before the installation of these new parts. Installing brand new parts without Power Flushing will certainly disarrange the sludge build-up making it spread throughout the system once again.
It is favourable to include corrosion inhibitors to your gas Central Heating System to decrease this build up of residue. Power Flushing your system can also assist with a number of other issues as summarized below.
1.Heating radiator cool points2.Contamination’s in the boiler3.Problems with water pump circulating4.Central Heating System internal corrosion5.Decreased water pressure through blockages

There are many benefits for having a professional give a Power Flush to your heating system.
1.Increased water pump life as contamination’s are removed from the water.2.Heating ability enhancements as cooler patches are removed3.Improved system efficiency. Therefore, diminishing gas expenses in years to follow.4.Increased in heat performance leading to a reduction in energy expenditure.5.Decrease in gas gathering will reduce in internal corroding.6.Clearing the system of corrupted water, that might direct to internal system corroding.

Heating Systems wear away internally, when air is inside the system, producing iron sludge sediments in radiators and other parts. These fragments attach to all coverings, leading to early failure of pumps and valves, cool spots, obstructed heat exchangers and hot water coils. Extensive system productivity is vastly diminished, and fuel is wasted. Power Flushing your system is the solution for long term protection. Fasten a Power Flush tool and high-powered magnet filter to the heating system pipe work by taking off the central heating pump or the radiator. You should then be able to flush the entire system without detaching any extra radiators.
Power Flush machines are set up so water pours from the radiators to the filter, gathering all the iron sludge deposits, soon after arriving at the boiler to minimize remains going into the boiler heat exchanger. Corrosion remover chemical, usually phosphoric acid base, is added and boiler is turned on. Radiator exterior surface temperatures should be measured utilizing infrared frequency thermometers to expose cold locations and by focusing flow throughout each radiator and vibrating the radiators the corrosion spots are removed. One by one the radiators, coils and pipe work are Power Flushed with water until the samples of water are examined by using an electronic TDS and pH Meters, which show clean and neutral measurements. The Power Flush device is detached and central heating system restored.

Oxford Central Heating – Maintaining and Servicing Your System

Edit Article |

Posted: Sep 02, 2010 |Comments: 0
|

]]>

This article looks at how you maintain your central heating system, whether you live in Oxford or anywhere – so that it remains both safe and efficient.  Let us look at safety first and especially at the issue of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Carbon monoxide is a very poisonous gas which can kill and does kill.  It is invisible, has no taste and no colour.  It is most commonly caused by faulty boilers, faulty cookers and from some old fashioned gas fires.  It is estimated that there are 25,000 instances of carbon monoxide poisoning in the UK each year including about 30 deaths.  It occurs when there is an insufficient supply of oxygen to the combustion chamber.  When that happens the boiler or faulty device produces carbon monoxide rather than the less toxic carbon dioxide.

Because carbon monoxide has no smell it is not easy to detect.  If however you notice that the boiler pilot light flame is yellow rather than blue then that suggests that there is a ventilation problem with your boiler which needs attention.  Similarly on a gas cooker if the flame is yellow rather than blue that is evidence of a problem which needs sorting by a qualified gas engineer.

How can you detect carbon monoxide?  You can buy carbon monoxide alarms which give off a loud piercing noise which should be audible from any bedroom.  These are much superior to chemical carbon monoxide detectors which have panels which change colour when carbon monoxide is detected.  For one thing a loud alarm is more likely to be noticed and, in addition chemical detectors need to be replaced every six months, or they become useless.  While having a good detector is important the primary way to protect your home and your family is to have your central heating system regularly serviced so that the threat of carbon monoxide does not arise.

Servicing your system is important also to maintain the efficiency of your central heating system.  If your system is efficient your gas bills will be lower.

One of the most important features of a service is to check that the boiler system is properly ventilated.  It has been known for boilers in garages to be covered in growing foliage or stacked boxes which has severely limited the ventilation to the boiler increasing the risk of carbon monoxide releases.  You also need to check that nothing outside has blocked the boiler flue.  The purpose of the boiler flue is to enable exhaust gases to escape outside from the boiler, much as an exhaust does on a car.  Again some plant growth or storage of garden materials may be obstructing the flue and weakening the system.

The service should also include the various parts being cleaned – suction vacuum cleaners are often used.  Make sure also the service engineer checks the pipes and each of the radiators.

Mostly importantly check that the service engineer is on the Gas Safe register.  Anyone on the register has had to have reached certain standards to maintain the safety of the gas systems.  Ask to see their registration card.

The benefits of a regular service for your boiler are that the central heating system can remain efficient – and safe.  If the system is efficient it will not only keep you warm in winter but it will reduce your bills.  Neglecting the servicing could lead to a costly plumbing disaster and put your family at risk.  Think of it as a MOT for your boiler and it will keep your family safe.

Central Gas Heating

Edit Article |

]]>

Central gas heating is the way to keep the interiors of houses and other structures warm in the cold climate conditions. In this internal heating system, there is a central heating source and the air vents or radiators are connected to it to transfer the heat to other parts of the building.

Gas boilers and condensing boilers are used for central gas heating system and the gas used there is natural gas or LPG. Combi and back boiler are the other boilers which use natural gas.

In colder climate, people need warming of their houses round the clock. So cost is a great concern for them. Central gas heating is cheaper than other modes of heating. It is a very convenient system. It helps you maintain right optimum temperature all the times and turns on and off on its own. Besides keeping your home warm, it also provides hot water. Other greatest benefit of using central gas heating system is that you never run out of gas as it is the case with other fuels. It is supplied via pipelines to your homes all the time.

The most efficient and the most cost-effective heating system is the condensing Combi system. Also, it is highly reliable and durable. Its efficiency levels can achieve even 96 percent. The heat lost out of the system is fed back into it by this kind of heating system. It saves your heating costs to the large extent. This is the reason why this system is called a Condensing Boiler or a High Efficiency boiler.

Purchasing and getting a central gas heating system installed is a major decision, involving big investment. Before buying it you should consider few important factors. You should decide about the kind of fuel you are going to use for your boiler. It will help you decide the type of boiler you should choose. LPG and natural gas are two options for the fuels.

Another factor is the house to be heated. You should decide about the areas to be heated, size of the areas and the duration of heating you want to achieve. Climate of your surroundings and air temperatures in various seasons play important role while deciding for the kind of boiler. Also compare the features of different boilers to know which one is more suitable for your heating needs.

To determine the best method of providing heat for your home, you should consider other factors like interiors of your house, air circulation and ventilation. Now another important consideration is left; the cost. You should know about the initial cost of installing a heating system and thereafter running costs to maintain it.

While deciding all these things, you should consult the experts like an architect, heating specialist and the insulation and gas experts to determine the right kind of heating system for your home.

A Look At What Gas Central Heating Is And How You Can Get A Good Deal

Edit Article |

Posted: Jul 09, 2010 |Comments: 0
|

In some parts of the world, gas central heating is a very popular means of heating a home. Such a system is also referred to as a wet system in which a boiler fired up by gas heats up water and then the heat is provided to the central heating through use of radiators. A spinoff benefit is that such a form of heating also helps to provide hot water into the taps of a home.

Before choosing gas central heating systems, it is important to understand what benefits such a form of heating offers. First and foremost, this kind of heating system is very efficient and so for each energy unit, you and your home are going to get optimal returns. With gas that is piped directly to your home through mains you also do not have to worry about using storage solutions of the basic fuel.

Furthermore, when it comes to replacing the regular gas boiler you will find that this task is relatively straightforward and easy. Also, using gas central heating makes perfect sense because gas is a fuel that is readily available and widely used. This means that even if the boiler should break down or is in need of servicing, finding a plumber to do the necessary work will be very easy.

Typically, a gas central heating system is made up of a boiler that is also the heat source. In addition, there will be a cylinder that stores the hot water for the system as well as for heat only boilers. A pump is also required to push the water through the system and a timer is useful as it enables you to turn on the hot water as well as heating system automatically.

There is also need to include a thermostat that helps in controlling the temperature in the home and a cylinder thermostat is used for controlling hot water temperature. Radiators are also required as they will help in heating up the room.

The gas central heating works by burning fossil fuels (gas in this instance) in a controlled manner. This burning takes place in the boiler and the heat that is produced must then be transferred to the water supply in the system.

You can choose from a variety of boilers including combination boilers, system boilers and heat only boilers. Which type you end up choosing will depend on factors like the size of your home and your hot water needs.

When picking a gas central heating system or supplier you need to ensure that you do not compromise on quality or affordability. This is why you need to pick the supplier with great care. The better suppliers will even offer you finance options to help you pay for the system. Depending on the size of your home, the costs of such systems will vary.

Furthermore, when it comes to installing the system, each home will have its unique needs which are why you will seldom find two suppliers offering you the same quote. By checking a handful of suppliers, you should be able to get a good deal. So, this is what you should aim to do.
