What Boiler Should You Choose

Choosing a new boiler is not a task that should be taken lightly. In fact it is a decision that requires a fair amount of research if you are to ensure that your home remains adequately heated during the cold winter months. If you are not sure what boiler should you choose then take a moment to check out the following points and considerations. By doing so you should be able to invest your money more productively.

The single most important dynamic when checking out a range of new residential boilers is the efficiency of the models. The more efficient the boiler the lower the running cost will be. This is more important today as the cost of electricity and gas continue to rise upwards. Most appliances sold will have information on their efficiency rating, if this is not clear then it is perhaps because the model you are considering uses a lot more fuel than is actually necessary. An efficient boiler would not only save you money, it would lower your carbon footprint considerably.

Another important consideration is how easy it is to control the settings on the boiler. Do the models you have short listed have an easy to use digital control panel? Those devices that are not so easy to operate are likely to cause you untold headaches. Always search for those appliances that are simple to control. If possible choose a boiler that can switch itself on and off at designated times, this would help make certain that your home is kept warm at the right times as opposed to around the clock.

Never overlook the importance of a long warranty. Of course we do not like to think that a new appliance is going to break but it can happen. Repairing a boiler can be an expensive proposition. Search for information online as to which exact models require the least amount of maintenance and care.

Whether you should opt for a gas or electric fuelled boiler will be down to the cost and availability of these fuels in your locality. Not all households would be connected to a mains gas supply, therefore electric boilers may be the only option. As a general rule a gas boiler would be more economical to run than one that requires electricity.

When it comes to the purchasing and installation costs check whether or not any financial assistance is available to you. A large number of local councils now offer schemes to help householders upgrade to more efficient residential boilers.

The issue that we are all challenged with when when our boiler ceases to function However is fairly new and is of an reliable manufacturer then its a smarter choice to keep it operating until absolutely necessary

This brief guide is going to spotlight the key points and in the end helps your conclusion. Firstly, we need to have some kind of in relation to the time and manufacturer of the appliance. If the combi boiler is six to thirteen years of age then you will need to take into account the cost of restoration, as the regular life span of a gas boiler is 10 to 14 years. And the good manufacturers are restricted in this business are two until four. For a full variety and explanation of the producers then check out my web-site listed at the base of this article.

So what would be the benefits of owning a latest natural gas combi boiler put in?

the beneficiaries seem to outweigh the cons . And then the completely new condensing boilers are created to use not as much gas and in due course save you revenue. This is accomplished by the addition of thermostats and expert services included in a boiler installation for instance power flush the central heating. Typically you can count on to save around thirty percent on your gasoline bills by having a ten years old boiler substituted..

power flushing the heater will enhance efficiency considerably. And the positive aspects are so vast i have an additional post that addresses this as well on my web site.
im a heating engineer and have been for for eighteen years and have acquired a vast experience in the industry. I have carried out many tasks from boiler Installation in London to water leak improvements and now i do have this understanding would like to pass it on as a lot of it is undoubtedly good sense. And just a brief run through of the solutions including bleeding a radiator to filling a combination boiler can be attained with out the need for a call out charge.

Locating a plumber on the web can also at times be a tiny confusing, many plumbers you will find and trying to find a responsible engineer that arrives when they’re due and does not over-charge can be a financially distressing lesson and task to accomplish. My advice is usually to always ask for the phone numbers of happy customers close to you. This will without a doubt give you some concept regarding the major factors that may be or worry such as cost, punctuality and tidiness.

I continually give new customers recommendations, only yesterday i carried out a boiler installation in London and the customer that suggested me was solely responsible for my new job. As described this a brief guide and i do offer a far better detailed blog on boiler installations london and these aspects on the site below. Please do not think twice to visit my internet site: i thank you for the view if this topic is of interest to you then i highly recomend you check out these informative links. condensing boilers and london plumbers advice.

Worcester Greenstar – Cutting down your gas bills

]]>

In the current economic climate everyone needs to watch what they spend. To some this means less eating out to others fewer trips to the local shopping centre. But what about the money you are spending even when you sit at home?

The majority of the UK population has a gas boiler that passively heats there home but most of these are rated G for energy efficiency. This is the rating given to appliances below 70% efficiency. This means that AT LEAST 30% of the money you pay on gas bills is wasted and not used to heat your home at all. Most of this energy is lost through the boilers exhaust gases.

That’s where Worcester Greenstar Combi boilers come in. Combi boilers heat both your radiators and generate hot water instantly when it is needed, removing the need for a hot water cylinder. The Worcester Greenstar Combi boiler range is A rated, which is the rating given to appliances that are more than 90% efficient. This means that you are NEVER wasting more than 10% of the fuel provided to the boiler, which is exceptionally good for a combustion appliance.

By buying a Worcester Greenstar combi boiler such as the Worcester 30si Combi Boiler or Worcester 550CDI Combi Boiler, you will not only own a boiler of superior efficiency but also a boiler of superior quality. The Worcester Bosch group has an exceptional name for quality products and all there boilers are backed by a 2 year parts and labour guarantee.

Upgrade to a Worcester Greenstar Combi Boiler today and cut your gas bill by up to 30%

Energy Saving Week – Tips for Saving Energy Around the Home

]]>

Monday 25th to Sunday 31st October 2010 is Energy Saving Week, organised by the Energy Saving Trust, one of the UK’s leading organisations set up to address the damaging effects of climate change.

Every household in the UK creates five and half tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) every year – enough to fill a hot air balloon and almost twice as much as emitted by an average car.

Now in its 14th year, the aim of this annual campaign is to help and encourage people to save energy and reduce their carbon emissions. All week we’ll be highlighting different ways in which you can reduce and manage energy usage in the home. As well as the positive effects on the environment, they will also help save you money on your energy bills.

To start things off we have compiled a list of top tips as recommended by the Energy Saving Trust.

In one week a dripping hot water tap wastes enough hot water to fill half a bath, so fix leaking taps and make sure they’re fully turned off.
Turn your central heating thermostat down by one degree and don’t heat rooms when you are not using them.
Eliminate draughts and wasted heat by installing a cheap, easy-to-fix brush or PVC seal on your exterior doors. Letterboxes and keyholes should be covered too.
Is your water too hot? Your cylinder thermostat needn’t be higher than 60˚C.
Only boil as much water as you need (but remember to cover the elements if you’re using an electric kettle).
Don’t leave appliances on standby and remember not to leave laptops and mobile phones on charge unnecessarily.
Close your curtains at dusk to stop heat escaping through the windows and check for draughts around windows and doors.
Always turn off the lights when you leave a room.
Insulating your loft is one of the simplest ways to save energy – you can even install it yourself. Insulate an empty loft today, and in a year you could save around £145 or £40 if you’re topping up.
If your boiler is over 15 years old it’s probably time to replace it. Replacing an old boiler with an efficient new one could reduce your gas bill by over £300 a year. A new Alpha CDC combi boiler now comes with a standard 5 year guarantee.

Benefits Of a Condensing Combi Boiler Over a Regular Boiler

When buying a new boiler, you have two typical types of boiler to look at investing in. I call it an investment, because replacing an old boiler with a new one, is a very simple way of saving you money in the long run. Over the course of ten or twenty years you look to save thousands of pounds in comparison to having kept the old boiler all along. While the boiler is a big investment in the beginning, it pays off dividends as years go by.

Having A Boiler Fitted

With the winter season, it’s a busy time of year for heating and plumbing, with heating systems being forced to work overtime to keep our homes warm. Ten Tips for Buying a New Carpet

Buying a carpet is a big deal, and a big long term investment. With the amount of money involved, and the fact that once it’s fitted, it’s there for many years to come, it’s vital that you get it right – and first time. It’s not only the colour and design of the carpet you need to worry about; cost and especially quality play a part too. Leaving a Property Empty Long Term

If you leave the property empty, then follow our ‘empty property checklist’ to make sure that you keep it as safe as possible for when your parent returns:-

Empty Property Checklist

1.  Make sure the property is insured for being empty for more than 30 days (or whatever the current home insurance covers).

2.  Turn off the gas, water and all plugs so the property is kept safe.

3.  Cancel or redirect as many deliveries as you can, such as milk, newspapers or other mail.

4.  Ensure you have an alarm or something that would alert YOU or neighbours if they are around, that the property was being broken into.

5.  Either ask a neighbour/friend to visit the property a couple of times a week or do it yourself and ensure all post is read and throw away (or cancel) anything that is no longer needed.

6.  Make sure that the curtains or blinds are closed/opened regularly.

7.  Enhance security by having lights/radio etc coming on at different times of the day.

8.  Ensure that the garden is kept in as good an order as possible. Contact ‘Help the Aged’ as they may be able to suggest a good value gardener that’s been checked by them.

9.  In summer months, be on the lookout for unwanted visitors such as ants.

10. In the winter, check that the boiler still works.

Finally, when your mum or dad does come home, check the place over thoroughly a few weeks or so beforehand, especially if your parent may need some help or changes to the property post nursing/hospital care.
